Text Book Of Swedish Home Sloyd
Anna Berg

Text Book Of Swedish Home Sloyd, by Anna Petersson Berg, 1925.

Petersson Berg, an instructor of Slojd classes in Sweden, left her native country to bring to the public schools of America the traditional Swedish textile crafts of Holeseam and Fringing, finishing techniques for woven textiles, as well as traditional Swedish knitting styles.

Slojd, as defined by Otto Salomon, the founder of the Slojd theory of education, is the formalized system of teaching crafts as part of an educational process. As in many rural households, those of Sweden continued a craft tradition that included spinning, weaving and the making of a wide variety of small wooden items for personal use.
